I Am Perfect!

You read it right, I said it..I am absolutely 100% perfect! I know what you’re thinking, “HERETIC!!” but what if I could prove it? What if after I prove it, you realized you are perfect too?! Wouldn’t that be awesome?

“Nobody is perfect”, “Jesus was the only perfect human being” 

This is what we are all taught from the beginning of our spiritual journey. Songs we sang in Vacation Bible School all the way up to adulthood..lyrics like “And I know I’m weak, I know I’m unworthy to call upon your name” or “Give us clean hands, give us pure hearts”..they speak from a place of timidity. “I know I’m just scum, God, but please have favor on me!” We sing these songs to try to get God’s attention so that maybe He will do something wonderful for us, if we haven’t been too too bad. We are told constantly that we are “Just a sinner saved by grace” and that to think otherwise would be “Thinking too highly of ourselves” But what if there is more? 

We strive to take up our cross and die to self daily because of how wretched and evil we are. We live our life hoping and praying that come “judgement day” not everything we do gets burned up. We are told that everything we do apart from Him is filthy rags, but we are never told what is of Him or how to do it!

It doesn’t make sense to me that God would bring us to Himself only to turn around and say we are not worthy unless we follow these simple rules:

1. Thou shalt have no other god’s before me
2. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image
3. Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain
4. Remember the sabbath day and keep it holy
5. Honor thy father and thy mother
6. Thou shalt not kill
7. Thou shalt not commit adultery
8. Thou shalt not steal
9. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor
10. Thou shalt not covet

"Keep these rules and we will enjoy unhindered fellowship, break any of these rules and I will be angry toward you, punish you and withhold blessing from you until you confess your shortcomings to Me to restore the aforementioned fellowship.” - God

How does that sound? Perfect! Let’s leave it at that…..NO WAY! 

Jesus came to fulfill the law! Matthew 5:17 Jesus speaks, “Do not think I have come to abolish the law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.” Paul when speaking to the Galatians says in Galatians 3:1 "Galatians! Galatians! Have you completely lost your common sense? Can’t you see how the law bewitched you and blurred your vision to distort the revelation of what the cross of Christ accomplished in you?  This was so clearly predicted in scripture. How can you not be persuaded by the truth?” Romans 8:1-2 Paul again tells us that the law has been removed from us, “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death” 

We, as sons and daughters of the living God, are not obligated in any way to keep any law! There is therefore now NO CONDEMNATION for those who are in Christ Jesus! Who is in Christ Jesus? Mankind..all man..every single human being. Jesus died for sin. Period. Who’s sin? The WORLD’s sin. So in God’s eyes, all man is accepted and loved. Does that mean that all mankind is going to Heaven? No..faith in Jesus Christ is required to be saved, but all man is capable and allowed to have that faith. 

I am perfect!

Let’s look at what the Bible has to say about our perfection..Romans 10:4 "Christ is the conclusion of the law, everything the law required of man was fulfilled in him; He thus represents the righteousness of the human race, based upon faith.” or how about Romans 3:22 "Jesus is what God believes about mankind. In Him the righteousness of God is on display in such a way that all may be equally persuaded about what God believes about them, regardless of who they are; there is no distinction.” 

What does God believe about me? Jesus. And what is Jesus? Perfect. I am perfect in the eyes of God! The most famous verse we fall back to when witnessing to someone is Psalm 103:12 “as far as the east is from the west, so far does He remove our transgressions from us.” Why go through all the trouble of removing them, if He is constantly going to hold them against us throughout our life?

He REMOVED IT! HE NO LONGER REMEMBERS IT! Hebrews 8:12 "This knowledge of Me will never again be based on a sin-consciousness. My act of mercy, extended in Christ as the new Covenant, has removed every possible definition of sin from My memory!" What God doesn’t remember DOES NOT EXIST! Think about it..the I Am, the Infinite One, Almighty Creator, does not remember our sin.

If HE doesn’t remember it, why do we teach ourselves to? 

We are perfect! We simply must believe that, through Jesus Christ and His finished work on the cross. 

So tell yourself that you’re perfect. Tell yourself that you are completely acceptable to God. Tell yourself that nothing you can do will ever drive you away from God. Tell yourself that you are holy and blameless, and start living that way! You aren’t a simple doorkeeper of heaven, you are a SON! You are a co-heir of Jesus Christ! YOU ARE PERFECT! 

Praise God! 

"Now, instead of documenting my laws on stone, I will chisel them into your mind and engrave them in your inner consciousness; it will no longer be a one-sided affair. I will be your God and you will be my people, not by compulsion but by mutual desire. Knowing me will no longer be a Sunday-school lesson, or something taught by persuasive words of doctrine, neither will they know me on account of family tradition or door to door evangelism. Everyone, from the most unlikely to the most prominent people in society, will know me inwardly. This knowledge of me will never again be based on a sin-consciousness. My act of mercy, extended in Christ as the new Covenant, has removed every possible definition of sin from my memory!” 
Hebrews 8:10-12
