The Truth About Our Origin & Our Adoption

So I've been thinking a lot lately about our adoption into the family of God. We are taught and I believed we are adopted as sons and daughters of God when we accept Christ. But I've been learning about our true identity. I've been learning that we are God's children already and we need to recognize our true sonship and recognize our true heritage, our identity..our origin.

So if our origin is in Christ, why then is there a need for adoption? 

But the scripture is clear that we are adopted.

This had me puzzled for weeks! But I think I have found clarity! I think I finally understand the entire process!

Some very good friends of mine, very dear friends, have 4 beautiful children..they're an amazing family! But 2 out of the 4 kids were not born out of their mothers womb. Due to medical reasons their mother was told after their second child that she would never be able to bear children again. Their only option would be adoption or surrogacy. The doctors were able to save some of her fertilized eggs and freeze them for when they were ready to have another child. She is never again able to bear a child. But through surrogacy her and her husband will be able to have children that are genetically their own. The doctors implant the fertilized eggs into a woman, she carries them for 9 months, and gives birth to a child that is genetically theirs! Amazing right? So after the birth of their last 2 children, they had to go to court and adopt each of thm so that legally it would be theirs. See the laws regarding surrogacy are weird. The baby is genetically theirs, but because another woman carries it she is considered the birth mother. After birth if the surrogate decides she's gonna go crazy and keep the baby, the law says she's rightfully the mother. Regardless of DNA. So you can imagine how nerve racking that must be for the biological parents. There is always that thing in the back of their mind that says this may end badly. There is absolutely nothing these people wouldn't do to get their child back, should this surrogate go nuts. No amount of money is too great, no distance too far, no law too strict that would hinder their pursuit of their child! Sound familiar yet?
Let's look at this scenario: Bob and Lucy decide to have a child, but medically Lucy can't bear children. So through a surrogate, we'll call her Sally,  they are able to have a child that is directly genetically Bob and Lucy's. But Sally decides she's gonna keep the baby..let's call her Anna! And out of pure cruelty she tells Bob and Lucy they have 15 minutes per week to tell Anna who they are and where she came from. Meanwhile Sally has 10,065 minutes within that week to completely manipulate and lie to Anna. She tells her she's hers, and that people are gonna come lie to her, and that she's not really valuable enough to be accepted by anybody but Sally. But nevertheless Bob and Lucy try and try, week after week for years. Until one day Bob decides he needs to prove it to Anna. But how? THE COURT DOCUMENTS! He'd forgotten all about them! He gathers up all his court papers and financial reports and medical files and they head over to Sally's. There, in the living room of the captors house. Bob opens the box and page after page, document after document, line after line proving to Anna exactly who she is and how valuable she is to them! HER EYES ARE OPENED FOR THE FIRST TIME! She sees what kind of manipulation she's been subjected to all of these years, and finally realizes her true identity! They then go to the court and there's a hearing to establish an adoption back into her rightful family. 
So much like this same scenario, God is the Father of humanity. He created Adam from dirt, and Eve from Adam. His DNA is our DNA. But Adam "fell". Adam was lied to and fell into the trap of unbelief. Adam had a perfect relationship with God Himself , but after the fall, that relationship got strained on Adam's end. God and Adam no longer walked together, but that never changed God's view of us or His relationship with us! There were consequences to his actions. But in a passionate love moment the Godhead decided that for the reconnection to take place, man could not continue living forever. Not as a punishment, but out of absolute love, God removed them from the reach of the Tree of Life. 

"Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of us in knowing good and evil. Now, lest he reach out his hand and take also of the tree of life and eat, and live forever—” therefore the Lord God sent him out from the garden of Eden to work the ground from which he was taken."
Genesis 3:22, 23

God wasn't punishing man by removing us from the garden, He was saving us from an eternity separated from Himself! He knew if we kept eating of the tree, and continued living, that we would live in a state of constant shame and fear. So He removed us from it so that we could have the opportunity to join Him once again in unhindered relationship.
God gave life to Adam and Eve directly. He was their biological Father. God is the Father of perfection. God can only reproduce perfect. So think about this. God directly gave life to Adam AND Eve. Both were created in perfection. Both fell, does that mean they fell from their perfection? They were still created directly by God. They were still physically perfect. So what was imperfected as a result of the fall? Well what does the bible say about it? Colossians 1:21 says we were enemies in our mind! Man's mind was changed in that moment, not his physical body! He was never disconnected from his origin. So as humanity continued to grow we grew in our unbelief of our true origin! We grew in our misunderstanding of that moment in the garden. We grew in our misunderstanding of our position within the mind of God. God never changed His mind about mankind! We never became less to Him.
Ok now following genealogy, we can trace our roots back to the source, that source is God Himself! But He doesn't produce anything but perfection right? This is where the surrogacy takes place. He wants His kids to grow and multiply. But He can't produce anything except perfection, so to continue His family, He needs a surrogate. This broken world, the law, this "fallen" state has become our surrogate. He still has complete control over our entire development process..

For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. Psalm 139:13

Our adoption is necessary, not for God, but for mankind! We are given permission, through our adoption, to identify ourselves with our true identity! God knows we are His, He has never doubted that for a moment. Genetically, we are 100% God's children. But this world went crazy and is trying to keep as many of us as it can. God patiently and passionately calls each of our souls. He woos us and wants us to make that choice to believe who we really are! He wants us to awaken to our true identity and associate ourselves with Him once again! He even sent proof of our value! He sent proof that He is our true origin! His perfect direct offspring, like Adam and Eve, perfect in every way..Jesus. He has proven His Fatherhood to us, all we must do is recognize that through all of this world's lies! 

You ARE worth it!

You ARE loved!

You ARE valuable!

You ARE HIS!

He has NEVER been mad at you!

He has NEVER been disappointed in you. 

Your DNA is His DNA.
